A leading provider in the technology and instrumentation
industries Hewlett Packard employs over 70,000 people
worldwide and has more than 450 sales and support offices
and distributorships worldwide in more than 120 countries.
Efforts to provide expanded facilities for regional
and local sales and service personnel in the southeast
Texas area Hewlett Packard relocated to new office space
in the near west Houston Galleria business district.
Collaborative efforts with the local technology staff
produced the design, planning and administration of
a structured cable system, data center, telecommunications
closets and technology support facilities.
A thorough budget analysis and action plan including
detailed, CAD generated equipment room, telecommunication
closets and frame layouts were produced to assist with
vendor negotiation, acquisition and management.
These facilities support the client server based LAN
environment as well as special serial attached terminals,
support of product demonstration and training rooms
and existing PBX equipment.
Complex Project Issues included the
coordination and administration of technology
distribution with a space-planning model that utilized
modular furniture partitions exclusively throughout 80%
of the lease space and the need for a "White
Noise" system to enhance facility acoustics.
Additional complex issues included the cut-over and
transition to the new facility with over 300 personnel
over a single 48 hour work weekend.
